Craftsmanship makes Vroeg
Just outside Utrecht, in Bunnik, lies the monumental farm of Vroeg. In the heart of the building you will find the bakery. Every day our bakers make artisanal breads and delicacies that are served in the restaurant and sold in the regional shop.
The bakery
It all started in 2010 with our sourdough starter and one baker. Every year, an apprentice was added. Just like in a baker's guild, each apprentice learns the trade directly in practice from real masters. Every day, the bakers provide the starter with life. This is the basis of our famous sourdough bread. A bread that slowly gets going. In almost two days, it gets its rich taste. The use of ancient wheat from the Achterhoek also contributes to this. Everything for the best taste.
Handmade chair
Our bakers bake along with the holidays. With respect for artisanal traditions and at the same time taking into account the wishes of this time. This is also how we make our Christmas and Easter loaves. Real butter and almond paste provide a creamy texture. We add cranberries and nuts to currants and raisins. And the Victoria batter gives the topping a crunchy bite from the first to the last bite. In addition to this classic loaf, we have developed a delicious plant-based variant. This way we are sure that everyone can enjoy Vroeg's Christmas loaf.
Up Vroeg
Vroeg in the morning, the baker ties on his apron. Radio on, cup of coffee in hand. The smell of freshly baked sourdough bread fills the restaurant.
The chef enters the kitchen and can immediately start cutting and maturing the game that has just been brought in by the hunter.
The sous washes and cuts the vegetables, delivered fresh from the land by the grower. Halfway through the bakery, the pastry chef tastes the new cake's slipper base. It should taste good with the coffee, which has been carefully tested by our barista. The bitters combine perfectly with the slightly higher fat content of the farmer's raw milk.
Vroeg stands for authenticity, craftsmanship and simplicity. Craftsmanship in food and drink, but also in hospitality. That is why every department has real craftsmen. And the local suppliers are professionals who share our love for quality.

Our bread and pastries are made with the best ingredients. For example, we choose fruit from local farmers, cheese from the local cheese factory and beer from our home brewer around the corner. Each and every one of them are Local Heroes who know their trade and make the most beautiful products.
